March 31 Fire Wire

Happy Monday!

Welcome back! We hope all our families had a wonderful Spring Break!

Thank you to all our parents who attended interviews prior to the break! It was great to see families out with their children. We'd like to thank Mrs. Sargeant and the incredible volunteers who were busy all week at the book fair.

Before we left for the break we also celebrated our Grade 6 students who completed the DARE program. Thank you to Officer Donaldson who led our students in learning around topics related to making safe life choices.

As we bid farewell to March and welcome in April, please continue to stay informed through the weekly Fire Wire communications and our school calendar on the website.

It's a great week for a great week!

ACTION

Join Our Fundraising Council – We’re Looking for Board Members!

Are you passionate about making a difference in our community? We’re seeking dedicated individuals to join Fultonvale School Advisory Council and help drive impactful change! We’re currently looking for a President, Secretary, and Treasurer to provide leadership, oversight, and strategic guidance for our fundraising efforts.

Positions Available:

  • President: Lead the council, provide direction and vision for fundraising activities, and represent the organization at events.
  • Secretary: Manage meeting notes, maintain records, and ensure communication within the council.
  • Treasurer: Oversee financial records, manage budgets, and ensure financial transparency.

We meet every other month for 30-45 minutes.

Without volunteers to fill these positions, the Fultonvale School Advisory Council (FSAC) may be forced to dissolve. This would mean the loss of Hot Lunches, the Welcome Back BBQ, Provided Lunches, and valuable funding that directly supports our school.

If you're interested in stepping up, please email ftvhotlunch@gmail.com. Elections will take place at our AGM on May 20, and you must be present to be voted in.

Your support makes a difference—let’s keep these important programs going for our students!

OPPORTUNITY

Hot Lunch

**UPCOMING APRIL LUNCHES & NOTES**

Happy Monday FTV families. Hope everyone had a great spring break and are ready to get back into the swing of things! Here is the upcoming list and order closing dates of lunches for April along with other info at bottom:

  • Thursday April 3 - Little Caesars & Confetti Sweets (closes Sat Mar 29)
  • Wednesday April 9 - Mucho Burrito (closes Fri Apr 4)
  • Thursday April 17 - Boston Pizza (closes Sat Apr 12)
  • Wednesday April 23 - Nitza's & Confetti Sweets (closes Fri Apr 18)
  • Thursday May 1 - KFC & Confetti Sweets (closes Sat Apr 26)

As we are headed into Field trip season, please note your child (rens) schedules before ordering in advance.

If you need your child’s hot lunch sent home with a sibling, please email Carrie at ceckersley78@gmail.com by the day before or no later than 9 AM on the day of hot lunch. To keep things running smoothly, we ask that students do not come to the concession room looking for a sibling’s lunch, as we are busy managing classroom bins and distribution. Instead, Carrie will ensure the lunch is sent to the sibling’s classroom to be taken home.

Thank you for your cooperation and for your continued support of our fundraising efforts! With only 10 hot lunches left before the end of the school year, we’re excited for each one!

Did you know? Attendance Matters

If your child misses just two days a month for any reason for ten of their school years, they’ll have missed the equivalent of one entire year of school. Students who frequently miss school, even as early as kindergarten, are also more likely to have difficulty in school, at post-secondary and in their career. As every family has unique circumstances, EIPS uses a multi-tiered approach to re-engage students with chronic absenteeism. In addition, the Division promotes strategies to support and encourage regular attendance for all students. If you’re concerned about consistent student attendance for your child or youth, contact the school for support. An informative video is also available.

Watch for Thin Ice

Remember, be aware of thin ice this time of year. Depending on changing temperatures, ice can form and melt to varying degrees on outdoor bodies of water. Try to remind your child about the dangers of thin ice, obey all posted signs, take proper care and remain a safe distance from the ice.

For more information about ice safety, visit the Canadian Red Cross.

Did you know?

The colour of ice may be an indication of its strength. Clear blue ice is the strongest. White opaque is half as strong as blue ice. And, grey ice is unsafe—greyness indicates the presence of water.
