February 24 Fire Wire

Happy Monday!
Safety is our top priority during morning drop-off. We kindly ask all parents and guardians to follow these important procedures:
- Use the designated drop-off lanes for a quick and safe exit.
- If you need to park, please use the SOC parking lot.
- Do not park in the drop-off lanes—these are for drop-off only.
- Avoid angle stopping/parking during drop off in the upper parking lot in the mornings. Vehicles backing up create serious safety risks for students crossing.
Let’s work together to keep drop-off safe and efficient for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation!

Pink Shirt Day - Wednesday, February 26
Pink Shirt Day started in 2007 in Canada as an anti-bullying initiative. The movement began in Nova Scotia, when two high school students, David Shepherd and Travis Price, took a stand against bullying.
A Grade 9 student at their school was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In response, Shepherd and Price decided to take action. They bought 50 pink shirts and distributed them to their peers to wear the next day, encouraging others to stand in solidarity with the bullied student. The act sent a powerful message of support and rejection of bullying behavior. This simple yet impactful gesture quickly gained attention and evolved into an annual event.
Today, Pink Shirt Day is observed in many countries around the world, promoting kindness, respect, and inclusion, while raising awareness about the harm caused by bullying. It is held on the last Wednesday of February with participants wearing pink to symbolize their commitment to creating safe and supportive environments for everyone.
Here are some resources for parents and caregivers to support conversations around bullying at home.
