April 21 Fire Wire

Happy Monday!

We hope our school community had a wonderful long weekend!

Dear Fultonvale School Families,

I am writing to share some exciting and bittersweet news with you. I have been offered and accepted the Principal position at Pine Street Elementary for the 2025–2026 school year.

While I am truly honored by this new opportunity, it is not without a heavy heart that I prepare to leave the Fultonvale community. Serving as Assistant Principal here has been one of the most rewarding and meaningful chapters of my career. From the very first day, I have felt welcomed, supported, and inspired by our incredible students, dedicated staff, and caring families.

Fultonvale is more than just a school, it’s a family. I will forever be grateful for the memories we've created together, the challenges we've overcome, and the many moments of laughter, learning, and growth I've experienced alongside all of you. It has been an absolute privilege to work with such a passionate and committed team of educators, and I have no doubt that Fultonvale will continue to thrive and shine in the years ahead.

Fultonvale will always hold a special place in my heart, and I look forward to staying in touch and forever cheering on this amazing school community.

Hugs,

Dustine Vicic

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Kristen Rosato who will be joining our Fultonvale staff for the 2025-26 school year as Assistant Principal. Mrs. Rosato is currently the acting Assistant Principal at Fort Saskatchewan Elementary and a K-3 Literacy Consultant in Supports for Students for Elk Island. She brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge.

It's a great week for a great week!

ACTION

Happy Administrative Professionals' Day Mrs. Stevenson and Mrs. Edmundson!

This week is Administrative Professionals Week. We want to extend much gratitude to Mrs. Stevenson and Mrs. Edmundson who are dedicated to providing our school community with a welcoming, safe, and caring school experience. Whether they are greeting students, answering questions, tracking attendance, ordering school resources, managing school funds, registering students, administering first aid, giving out bandaids, ice, snacks, and the list goes on, we can always count on them to do it with a smile, positivity and kindness. We are lucky to have both Mrs. Stevenson and Mrs. Edmundson at Fultonvale!

Earth Day Shoe Drive

We are excited to announce that Fultonvale School is participating in the Strathcona Shoe Drive, taking place April 21–25 — and it’s all being led by our amazing Leadership 8 students!

As part of this meaningful initiative, we are encouraging students to bring in any pairs used shoes to donate. For every pair of shoes brought in, students will have a chance to enter their name into a draw to win some incredible prizes!
This is a fun and impactful way for our school community to:
  • Support the Strathcona Shoe Drive
  • Care for the Earth and Mother Nature by recycling shoes the right way
We are so proud of our Leadership 8 students for organizing this campaign and showing how young leaders can make a big difference!

Let’s work together to reduce waste, give back, and show the power of community spirit. We can’t wait to see the mountain of shoes we collect and the positive impact we’ll make together!

Hot Lunch

We hope you had a wonderful Easter long weekend!

Here’s a look at our upcoming hot lunches for April and May, along with important ordering deadlines and updates:

Upcoming Hot Lunches & Order Deadlines:

  • Wednesday, April 23 – Nitza’s Pizza & Confetti Sweets (Order by Friday, April 18)
  • Thursday, May 1 – KFC & Confetti Sweets (Order by Saturday, April 26)

  • Wednesday, May 28 – Subway & Jugo Juice (Order by Friday, May 23)
  • Thursday, June 5 (Tentative) – McDonald’s (Order by Saturday, May 31)
Note: This lunch is tentative as it may conflict with the Track & Field rainout date. If the event is rescheduled to this day, Healthy Hunger will issue full refunds to all who ordered.

Important Reminders:

  • As we head into field trip season, please double-check your child(ren)’s schedules before placing lunch orders in advance.
  • You can pre-order the June 5 McDonald’s lunch now, knowing that a refund will be provided if it ends up being canceled.
  • Please log into your Healthy Hunger account to confirm your orders. We’ve had a number of students looking for lunches that weren’t ordered—we don’t want anyone disappointed!

Lunch Pickup for Siblings:
If you need your child’s lunch sent home with a sibling, please email Carrie at ceckersley78@gmail.com the day before, or by 9:00 AM on the day of hot lunch.
To help our volunteers manage lunch distribution efficiently, we ask that students do not come to the concession room looking for a sibling’s lunch. Carrie will ensure it’s delivered to the appropriate classroom to be taken home.

Thank you for your continued support of our hot lunch program and fundraising efforts.
We only have 7 lunches left before the end of the school year, and we’re looking forward to each one!

INFORMATION

Supporting Grade 6 to Junior High Transition

To help our Grade 6 students prepare for the transition to Grade 7, we will be hosting a Junior High Jitters Assembly and Activity Afternoon in late May or early June. This fun and informative event will give students a chance to ask questions, engage in interactive activity stations, and learn more about what to expect in junior high.

In previous years, when Fultonvale welcomed students from two other elementary schools, we hosted a Junior High Information Evening for families. Since next year’s Grade 7 students are all current Fultonvale students, we will no longer be holding that separate evening event.

We will continue to share important junior high information with families through SchoolMessenger, newsletters, and Fire Wire blog posts, just as we did with option forms earlier this year.

Staff Recognition

At Fultonvale, our staff go above and beyond every day, embodying Heart, Excellence, Attitude, and Teamwork—they Feel the H.E.A.T. in all they do! Their dedication and impact on students and our school community often go unseen, but you can help change that!

We invite you to take a moment to recognize a staff member who has made a difference. Your kind words and appreciation mean more than you know!
